Juan Soto’s $765 million contract slows Teoscar Hernandez’s renewal with Dodgers

Negotiations between the Los Angeles Dodgers and Teoscar Hernandez are still stalled, and part of the blame lies with Juan Soto and his $765 million, 15-year contract, which has increased the price of outfielders.

Teoscar Hernandez was an important player for the Dodgers’ successful season that culminated in the World Series triumph, after hitting 33 home runs, but upon entering free agency, he is now seeking a three-year contract worth between $66 million and $72 million, although according to Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic: “The length of the contract does not appear to be a sticking point between the parties. The problem is the money”

It seems that the Dodgers do not want to shell out a large sum, and they are even in a process in which they are weighing the best decision between paying for Hernandez’s return or looking for another alternative, which for now focuses on the Chicago Cubs right fielder Seiya Suzuki or Chicago White Sox center fielder Luis Robert Jr., both in trade, or thinking about free agent Ha-Seong Kim

“What I can tell you, according to my sources, is that the Dodgers and Teoscar Hernandez have not communicated in more than a week,” Doug McKain of Dodgers Nation revealed in a comment in which he added: “I don’t think Teo will accept the deal the Dodgers are offering him. I think the Dodgers will have to increase their offer.”
