Two days later, after the Celtics’ 121-94 win over the Magic, Tatum was asked after the game about the constant ridicule he receives from opposing teams and from fans on social media.
There were three women standing up in the direction Tatum was staring.
Tatum struggled in the loss, scoring 16 points — down from his 27.8 points-per-game average — on 5 of 15 shooting from the field. The Raptors are one of the NBA’s worst teams at 10-31, ahead of just the 6-33 Wizards.
“He’s still looking, bro. Look at this, caught red-handed, caught red-handed. Oh my god, oh my god, oh my god, he’s still going. I don’t know what to say. I’m stunned.”
“Bro what are we doing? Lock in gang. I need you for the points tonight, bro. Not that, c’mon,” he said as he pointed to the women.
“I don’t know. I guess I’m a big deal,” Tatum said as he walked off the podium.
The Celtics star was caught repeatedly staring into the stands for prolonged periods of time during the team’s 110-97 loss to the Raptors on Wednesday.
