The next four years will change America forever. But HuffPost won’t back down when it comes to providing free and impartial journalism.

Though Kennedy’s nomination has drawn pushback from public health officials and a number of lawmakers, Rodgers says he isn’t concerned. Appearing on “The Pat McAfee Show Live” Thursday, the New York Jets quarterback issued a stern warning to senators who might oppose Kennedy during the forthcoming hearing.

Kennedy, who has spread anti-vaccine misinformation and other conspiracy theories, is President-elect Donald Trump’s nominee to lead the Department of Health and Human Services. A date for his confirmation hearing has yet to be announced.

Rodgers, a known vaccine skeptic, said he turned down the offer to continue playing football.

Though Kennedy is arguably the most high-profile of Trump’s nominees, the former Democrat is facing opposition from both sides of the political spectrum.

The quarterback went on to argue: “He just wants to make sure that everything that’s being given to our kids is safe, everything that we’re ingesting on a day-to-day basis is safe. And he’s going to ‘Make America Healthy Again’ or is going to freaking die trying. Wouldn’t you want that?”
